This next song I use on Valentine's Day. We'll begin by
listing all the silly things that lovers call each other in
English, along with the silly sayings found on those heart
shaped hard candies. These are used to create Valentines
that we send to students in Spanish, French and Japanese
classes. My students get some from them in return. The
translation process is hectic and often funny. This song
just seems to fit right into the silliness that goes with
Valentine's Day:
KOMM MIT MIR UNTER'M HOLLERHOLLERBUSCH
Komm mit mir unter'm Hollerhollerbusch
Schnippidi, schnappidi, schnippidi, schnappidi, schnippidi,
schnappidi husch
Komm mir mir meine suesse, kleine Musch
Schnippidi, ...
Da schni schna schnacken wir zwei
Und jodeln dabei
Odalehe, odalehe, odaloe
Odalehe, odalehe, odaloe
Da schni schna schnacken wir zwei
Und jodeln dabei
Odalehe, odalehe, odaloe
(not sure of the spelling for yodeling part)
